I wonder, which one do you think would be more useful? On one hand, a voice assistant that constantly listens and says "I'm ready to talk," and on the other, a simple device that just executes your commands with basic responses. Which would you prefer and why? What would you use it for? At that point, is "practicality" more important, or does "being listened to all the time" bother you?
Which do you prefer: a voice assistant or a simple response device?

I’d go for a simple‑response device that doesn’t listen all the time. First off, privacy is a big deal for me: I don’t need an assistant recording nonstop in my house or workspace. Secondly, in my experience, most of the time I just want to run quick commands like “turn on the lights” or “open the door” without the device having to sift through a lot of background noise. If I have to say something, I prefer to trigger it manually with a button or a clear command (“Hey, device, listen”). That way you avoid false positives and save energy. That said, if the assistant offers an intermittent, configurable listening mode, I might consider it for more complex automation scenarios.
I prefer voice assistants because practicality matters—like when my hands are free, they’re a lifesaver for searching or taking notes. But being constantly listened to makes me a bit uneasy, so I use them with a strong focus on privacy settings.
