In recent years, smartwatches seem to be everywhere, while traditional watches are slowly giving way. So, which do you prefer? If you're into step counting, heart rate monitoring, and notifications, smartwatches offer serious advantages. But traditional watches are almost unrivaled in style, durability, and simplicity. Some don't even go beyond just telling the time, but that's a choice too. Do you think the trend should continue, or should classics make a comeback?

Just gonna say what comes to mind, bro. I also compare smartwatches with classic watches with my biker buddies. For example, I have a group of older biker friends who usually go for classic Casios. Why? Because even though electronics are durable, the vibrations from the bike can mess them up. There are times when a tiny bump cracks the screen. On the other hand, a simple Casio is easy to repair if it breaks, and the battery lasts up to 10 years. If we look at the hardware side, smartwatches have AMOLED screens and better battery management, but you still have to charge them every three days. I think smartwatches are a bit overkill on the hardware side, whereas a simple 7-segment LED watch lasts for 30 years and doesn’t stress you out with battery life. When making a decision, I think you should focus on your usage style, and most of the time, I go for something in between these two.

I also prefer classic watches, bro, between us. Especially automatic mechanical ones, they're on another level. Like yesterday, I wore my Seiko with my suit to a meeting and it looked perfect—nobody asked, "Why not a smartwatch?" When I need step counting or heart rate tracking, I just use my phone anyway; no need to carry an extra device in my pocket. But of course, I can't deny that smartwatches have their place. My close friend’s Apple Watch once detected a heart attack and got him to the hospital in time. So yeah, everyone’s needs are different. Mine’s just about style and reliability, his is about life-saving data. Though, let’s be real, some of those things are just… well, you know, like the battery only lasting a day…

Smartwatches and regular watches are both valuable in my opinion, but I’ve increasingly leaned toward using mine for photography. For example, I bought the Apple Watch SE 2 last year, and while features like step counting and heart rate monitoring were handy, notifications kept popping up and distracting me whenever I was checking the screen to take photos. Still, I realized how well my night vision worked during night runs thanks to the pulse tracking—honestly, it was a game-changer. On the flip side, I’ve got this old silver pocket watch from my grandpa—so simple that it actually lets my brain focus on something else entirely. When you’re walking for hours and just want to check the time, you don’t have to fuss with unlocking a smartwatch screen. It’s way more straightforward. So yeah, it depends on what you need, but later I realized I was paying for features on my smartwatches that I never even used, bro.
