Hello, I'm thinking about getting a smart wristband soon for sports and health tracking. Which features should I focus on to get accurate data and use it for a long time? Besides basic features like heart rate, step count, and sleep analysis, battery life and water resistance are also important, of course. Which features do you think I should prioritize? How can I test the performance for different activities (running, swimming, fitness)?

I think first you should check the accuracy of the heart rate sensor—some have ECG support in addition to optical sensors. Mine (Xiaomi Band 7) usually works fine during running and yoga, and even though it’s water-resistant (IP68), I submerged it in water for an hour with no issues. Also, look for models that last 10+ days on average weekly usage to avoid charging hassles.

At the very beginning, choose models that support ECG instead of PPG for heart rate, as the rest looks similar but if the battery only lasts 5 days, it’s useless. For swimming, go for at least IP68, and even better, look for ones that pass the 5 ATM pressure test because some give incorrect readings in water.

Just thinking back to last year, I was going through exactly what you did, bro. First, I bought a cheap fitness band, something like $30, and it was the "Xiaomi Mi Band." It showed heart rate, steps, and all that, but it wasn’t great. Even when I was working out, it felt like it was slipping off my wrist, and the data was all over the place. It tracked my sleep too, but the estimates were so rough that I’d wake up wondering if I’d even kissed someone the night before. Then suddenly, I started searching for "best fitness tracker for athletes," man—I wanted the best. Now I’ve got the Garmin Venu 2S, and I don’t regret it at all. The heart rate sensor fits snugly on your wrist, and when you press it, it feels like a real health professional is monitoring you. When I swim, the waterproofing isn’t an issue—it even handles chlorine. The battery life is insane; I work out 5-6 hours a week, and it still lasts five days. The step counter is so accurate it’s borderline creepy. And sleep tracking? When I wear it to bed, it tells me exactly how deep I slept or how well I rested in REM. Honestly, if I’d stuck with that cheap band, I might’ve missed out on one of the best upgrades of my life!
