What should you consider when choosing a drone for beginners?

I'm curious, what advice would you give to someone thinking about buying their first drone? I want to start with something cheap and gradually move up, but the saying "you get what you pay for" always confuses me. For example, what features should I look for? Is flight time important, the camera, or the size? Or which model would be the most sensible to start with? What do you think?

Just like when buying a camera, it makes sense to start with basic lenses and automatic mode before moving on to professional equipment, it's also logical to begin with a simple drone model. For example, the DJI Mini series is ideal for beginners because they are small and lightweight, and they are not subject to flight regulations. It seems more reasonable to practice flying first before moving on to a camera or more advanced models.

I went through the exact same struggle when I bought my first drone—you know, that nagging thought of "you get what you pay for" always creeping into my mind. I wanted something that was fun to fly but wouldn’t break the bank if it crashed. After some budget-friendly research, I narrowed it down to a few key things: flight time (10-15 minutes was plenty for me), a simple control system (since I was a beginner), and a longer warranty from local brands. With my first model, I wasn’t too concerned about the camera—I just wanted to get the hang of the flying experience. But when I saw how much better the camera quality was in slightly pricier models, I realized I’d been a little too stingy with my first choice. Turns out, going cheap and constantly replacing parts is way more annoying than just investing a bit more upfront.
