In recent years, drones have become increasingly popular for enhancing agricultural productivity. Thanks to sensors, they can analyze crop health, soil moisture, and irrigation needs. They’re also used for spraying pesticides and planting seeds. This technology reduces costs in farming while boosting efficiency. How far do you think drone use in agriculture will spread in the future? Or will it remain limited to certain areas?

Last summer I helped my neighbor monitor his fields with drones. We flew a Mavic 3T over a 20‑hectare corn field and used multispectral sensors to map crop stress levels. The data showed chlorophyll deficiency in a few spots—something we wouldn’t have spotted without manual checks. We didn’t use drones for the planting program, but the neighboring farmer did seed 40 hectares with a drone. He said it resulted in about 12 % more uniform germination and an 8 % water saving. In fact, the biggest gain was that it required roughly ten times less labor compared to traditional field scouting. Without drones, we couldn’t perform such detailed analysis on our small, fragmented plots.
