Hello everyone, what should be the general approach for those looking to transition to electric vehicles? First of all, how can we determine budget-friendly models? What should we pay attention to before encountering charging infrastructure issues? Even in the used car market, what should we look for? In your opinion, what are the most effective methods to extend battery life? Considering different climate conditions, what should we focus on? Let’s create a general roadmap with the advice of experienced friends.

Torcuato's patient story. Last year, I was struggling with the same dilemma; I bought a used 2019 model, 62 kWh car. At first, I was worried about the budget, but I upgraded my three-phase outlet at home (~1,500 TL) and installed a Wallbox. Once I was sure about that infrastructure, I focused on the local geography: constantly accelerating between 0-50 km/h in Istanbul’s traffic is a huge stress on the battery cells. So, it turns out that cell protection algorithms are more important than range. That’s where the thermal management system comes into play—I took inspiration from Tesla and added an extra fan to the cooling system (DIY kit version, total 400 TL). Now, my 45 kWh pack is still at around 85%. Lesson learned: for used EVs, check certified repair history, calendar age, and BMS software version—don’t let the price overshadow these.
