Some people prioritize fitness tracking, others focus on seamless notification management, and some can't compromise on long battery life. What do you think are the most important features when buying a smartwatch? How should ideal feature combinations vary based on different use cases? For example, as a developer, which features would make my job easier?

If you're focused on fitness and want a solution that makes your development work easier too, look for a smartwatch with a heart rate sensor, GPS, and long battery life, along with always-on display and advanced notification management. I use the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic because the constant stream of notifications during PyTorch sessions used to spam my screen, and it handles background alerts much better.
I also focused a lot on battery life and notification management when buying a smartwatch—especially since I'm constantly coding for IoT projects, having the screen stay on and drain the battery would mess up my work. Once, while working on a mesh network project, my watch died in just 3 hours, and I nearly panicked, so now I prefer models with long battery life (like some Garmin ones).
But fitness features are important too, since as a developer I don’t just sit at my coding desk all day—I go for runs now and then and use the heart rate monitor to take a breather. For notifications, I want something like Android Wear, where I can see messages directly on the watch and reply quickly, so I prefer touchscreens and voice command support. Ultimately, it depends on your use case: if you're a developer, you need a coding-friendly display; if you have a fitness routine, you need a heart rate sensor and GPS; and if you're a casual user, notifications and battery life are key. What’s your most common use case?
