There's been significant growth in the IoT market lately, but security concerns are rising just as fast. Do you think IoT device standards are sufficient, or are manufacturers prioritizing other aspects over security? How worried are you about security in this space? What factors do you consider when choosing your own IoT solutions? Share your thoughts and experiences!

I upgraded to a smart home system last week and honestly, it’s been a bit of a nightmare. Forgot to change the default password on the smart door lock, and a few days later, the device started playing a rough WAV file—sounded like someone was talking inside. Luckily, my family was out of town, but it was a real wake-up call. Now, I use strong, unique passwords for every device, keep them all on a trusted IoT network, and regularly check for firmware updates. Made me realize how lax manufacturers are about security—like leaving unused backdoors and saying, "Eh, we’ll check it later." My golden rule: never leave a device on default settings.

Have you heard that what they call "standards" in IoT device security are actually just the minimum requirements for manufacturers? Some devices don’t even bother changing the default passwords—what do you think about that?
