Let me share my firsthand experience to determine if IoT is a revolution or just hype. I've been testing smart homes and wearables for 5 years, and I don't think it's just "hype" yet. For instance, the devices constantly connecting to our phones (headphones, watches, cameras) show how IoT simplifies daily life. I use smart plugs for energy management, and it reflects on my bills—a practical benefit.
But of course, there are issues. Last year, I noticed that despite a security patch for an IoT thermostat, most users didn't update it. I ended up disabling my own system because the thought of someone hacking my home's temperature settings made me sick. If IoT's long-term promise is to hold up, manufacturers need to focus on security and stability. Personally, I believe the future is IoT-based, but only after it becomes more secure and user-friendly.
