I've recently noticed a surge in autopilot cleaning solutions among smart home devices. Robot vacuums can map out rooms using LiDAR or optical sensors and navigate around obstacles. But how do we balance navigation efficiency, battery life, and cleaning intensity? And how consistent are these devices' performances in multi-story homes? How do you evaluate the core principles of these systems? Share your thoughts!

In my two-story apartment, I’ve programmed the robot to do a "quick cycle" on the main floor in the morning (just the main rooms) and a "full cycle" in the evening, with the "recharge-and-resume" feature enabled—it returns to the dock when the battery drops to 20% and picks up right where it left off, so no areas get missed and battery life stays efficient. Plus, I disabled the high-resolution mapping on the second floor and left it in "obstacle detection" mode only, which cuts down on processing time and keeps the cleaning more consistent between floors.
