Hey everyone, I was curious—can anyone share some technical details on how robot vacuums navigate and move around a room? Do they use lasers to map the area, or do they rely on cameras? Or is it a mix of both? The more details you can provide, the better—I'm really confused about this topic.
How do robot vacuums navigate autonomously?

Haha, you didn’t even ask a decent vacuum “where are you going?” but whatever, at least the robots can wander around without burning anything up 😂 They usually scan with lasers, and when they glance at the camera they spin 360° and say “I’m here.” Mine, however, can’t figure out where to go inside the house, so it keeps getting stuck under the furniture. I guess I’ve got a few more IKEA sessions before I finally learn what LIDAR is 😅
