Is a robot vacuum really worth it or is it unnecessary?

Smart home adoption is accelerating, but the practicality of robot vacuums is still up for debate. Some say, "When will it actually vacuum?" while others just don’t like devices that run constantly. Do you think this category has a future, or is it just a passing trend? What are the downsides? Share your thoughts.

I’ve had my share of days where dust piles up at home because I forget to sweep, but ever since I got a robot vacuum, that problem’s gone. It runs automatically a few times a week, so at least I’m not stepping on dusty floors in bare feet. Yeah, it sometimes misses under furniture or gets stuck on rug edges, but the convenience totally outweighs those little hassles. Even better, when it syncs with my smart home system, I get notifications so I don’t have to wonder, “Did it run?” I can trigger it with a voice command when I leave the house or set it to run at specific times. The only downside I’ve experienced is with models that have water collection—when they try to suck up spills, everything from the dirt bag to the filter ends up soaked. If you’re considering one of those, do your homework first. As tech keeps improving, I think we’ll see them controlled by voice assistants, able to detect dirt levels, and even run different cleaning programs in different rooms. So it’s not just a passing fad—it’s becoming a permanent part of home cleaning.
