Last week, I tested both text-to-video (TTS + image synthesis) and simple 2D animation tools for a project. I noticed that the experience varied depending on the complexity of the script—for example, I wanted to create a 5-minute YouTube explainer using **Synthesia** with a 3D human character. The first attempt had natural-sounding audio, but the lip synchronization and facial expressions felt very synthetic. In the end, I got feedback like "robotic" from viewers. I moved on to the second option: using **Runway ML + Pika Labs** to turn the text into an "anime-style" video. The stylization advantage here was great—I wanted an old-film aesthetic for a wedding invitation video, and I could directly transfer the style from the text. It was also much more cost- and time-efficient. The final result had smooth visuals and narration. So, the approach changes depending on the type of script: for educational content, text-to-video works best, while for storytelling, animated flexibility gives better results.

For example, when I want to turn a script into a 3-4 minute ad video, I can get fairly natural-looking footage with accurate facial expressions and gestures. Simple animation tools, on the other hand, are ideal for brand identity or educational content—I often use psychedelic designs to explain abstract concepts or simple character animations. Of course, both methods have their advantages. Text-to-video systems make it easy to create realistic scenes and human models, but when stylistic or artistic originality is needed, simple animation tools offer more flexibility. My personal preference varies by project, but I usually lean toward text-to-video systems and then make fine adjustments afterward. This approach saves a lot of time, especially for scenes that challenge physics or require natural movement.
