In recent years, there's been a shift in desktop and laptop systems. Some talk about a seamless ecosystem, others about a different experience. Is switching from macOS to another operating system really necessary? And are there significant differences in performance, compatibility, and ease of use? What are your experiences?

Now, let's say you're having serious performance issues with gaming—macOS's limitations with OpenGL and Vulkan mean it's not always ideal for graphics-intensive applications. Not all modern AAA games run smoothly on macOS, and performance drops can be significant. In that case, switching to Windows doesn’t just improve your gaming experience; it also lets you take advantage of DirectX-based applications. That said, don’t forget that macOS’s Metal API is highly optimized within its own ecosystem, and it still leads the competition in professional fields like video editing.

The main reasons behind switching from macOS to Windows for most users boil down to performance and compatibility concerns. When I made the switch, three things stood out: gaming performance, hardware diversity, and especially office/software compatibility. I needed the Adobe suite, and the optimizations in the Windows version (like GPU computing) were far ahead of macOS—render times dropped by almost 30%. On the other hand, I barely ran into font compatibility issues with InDesign on Windows, which significantly boosted my workflow efficiency. While I can’t deny macOS’s fluidity in terms of ease of use, Windows 11’s improvements (like Snap Layouts and clearer task management) made the transition relatively smooth. If you’re working with touchscreens or 2-in-1 devices, Windows has a clear edge here—there’s no macOS model that offers such an "evolutionary" experience. For me, the deciding factor was how well the system understood and worked with my screen.
