My first impressions of React 19's new features felt quite similar to comparing Vue 3's Composition API with React, but it's great to see React finally catching up to this trend. With Vue's Composition API and `<script setup>`, code organization and reactivity management became much more intuitive — and it seems like React 19's new compiler adopting the same principle could be beneficial. The reduction in manual `useMemo`/`useCallback` needs through automatic optimizations could significantly improve the developer experience. As for Server Components, just like Vue did with Nuxt 3, React 19 is expected to make inter-component data flow more efficient with this approach. However, one thing to watch out for is the challenges the React ecosystem might face adapting to such changes — discussions have already started on how Next.js will handle it. If the React team can manage this transition smoothly, it could bring performance gains and code simplicity, especially for large-scale applications; otherwise, it might just add more complexity.

The new compiler in React 19 really reminds me of the optimizations Angular introduced with Ivy—both technologies aim for higher automation and less reliance on manual configuration. Regarding Server Components, the situation is similar to Next.js (which actively promoted them): shifting to server-side rendering reduces the amount of JS in the browser, but it requires adapting existing architectures and splitting code between client and server. Whereas we used to think of components as purely client-side entities, now we’ll need to clearly define their boundaries and dependencies. On one hand, this speeds up page loads; on the other, it introduces extra constraints and more “conditional compilation” in the code. As for experimental async hooks, I’m immediately reminded of similar experiments in Vue 3 and SvelteKit with their support for prioritized rendering. The Meta team is clearly moving toward improving interface responsiveness, but without clear documentation and stable feature releases, such innovations can become a source of bugs and incompatibilities.
