Is stability or performance more important in Linux-based systems? When using Ubuntu, do you value the long support period more than the instability caused by constant updates, or vice versa? Which version do you prefer and why? I'd love to hear about your experiences!
Which do you prefer for Ubuntu: LTS or the regular release?

A year ago, I faced the same question when upgrading our team server—LTS or the monthly regular releases. At the time, I had just migrated a financial data analytics tool to Python and PostgreSQL, which was extremely sensitive to any system changes. The "regular" versions promised the latest features, but the stability issues after major updates (core libraries, kernel) were so frustrating that we had to set up Cron jobs twice a day just for emergency rollbacks.
Since then, I’ve consistently opted for LTS—especially over the past two years with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. While the biweekly security patches sometimes introduce minor incompatibilities, those are rare edge cases. The biggest advantage for me as a data scientist? I can focus on reliable dependency pinning without constantly being blindsided by ABI or library conflicts. The long-term support window (until April 2027) gives me peace of mind for projects like our AI model pipelines, which we can’t afford to rebuild every couple of months.
