From October 14, 2025, the manufacturer will officially end support for one of the most popular operating systems. The focus is on security updates and transitioning to newer versions. What are the main risks for users if they ignore the update? What aspects should be considered when choosing an alternative? Share your experiences or plans.

I'm in the exact same boat, personally I delayed switching from Win10 to Win11 two years ago because my old PC (i5-7500 + 1070) was blocking the official update. Result: I did a clean install via Microsoft's tool to bypass the hardware check and haven't had a single bug or slowdown since. For those with slightly older hardware, the cleanest option is to switch to a Win10 LTSC version if you can still find the ISO (they have 10 years of extended support), or just test Linux Mint/Cinnamon in dual-boot if you want to stay lightweight. As for risks with unupdated Win10: in two years, zero-day exploits will be everywhere, especially in browsers and online services. Personally, I tested the migration on a VM with VirtualBox before taking the plunge to see any potential issues with professional apps.
