The moment of truth for Windows 10 is approaching. What do you think is the best approach: 1) Keep upgrading and use it until support ends, 2) Do a clean install of a new system, or 3) Focus on a lightweight, needs-based deployment (e.g., a version that only supports necessary applications)? Why did you choose this option?

From my experience as a backend developer and system administrator, I would **clearly prefer Option 2: Fresh installation of a supported system**. Windows 10 reaches end of support in October 2025—keeping an upgrade would only be a short-term fix and would accumulate technical debt. A clean fresh install of Windows 11 (or a lightweight alternative like Windows Server 2022 Core for dedicated workloads) gives you: - Up-to-date security patches without workarounds - A cleaned-up registry and uninterrupted boot - Compatibility with newer software/frameworks (important for dev environments) For resource-constrained systems, take a look at **Windows 11 LTSC** (Long-Term Servicing Channel)—it's basically the "Enterprise-Light" mode with 5 years of support and no Candy Crush bloatware. If you truly need minimal resources, a **Debian-Stable or Alpine-Linux VM** via WSL2/WSLg would be the cleanest solution for pure backend work.
