Should rollup-based scaling be the default approach for all Ethereum dApps?

I'm trying to understand the trade‑offs when choosing a layer‑2 solution for a new dApp. Rollup technologies promise high throughput and security by inheriting the base chain's consensus, but they also introduce complexity in data availability and exit mechanisms. Do you think the benefits of rollups outweigh the added architectural overhead for most projects, or are there scenarios where alternative scaling methods make more sense?
