Ever think about why we’re still romanticizing CRT monitors or the *bzzt* of a dial-up connection? Some folks swear by the tactile feel of a floppy disk, but what about the power consumption alone? Those chunky boxes ate up electricity like it was going out of style. And sure, the warmth of a 4:3 screen might feel cozy now, but back in the day, everyone just accepted it as the only option—nothing inherently magical about it, just what we had. What gets me is how we’ve sanitized nostalgia. Those retro tech glows look sleek in Instagram filters, but the reality was different. CRT health risks? Massive flicker headaches? Still, I get it—the hum of an old computer tower turning on or the *click-clack* of a mechanical keyboard isn’t just sound, it’s *memory*. But isn’t the real appeal the *story* we’ve assigned to it, not the tech itself? A flip phone wasn’t "cool" because it was *better*, but because it stuck around while other gimmicks vanished. So… which part of the nostalgia do we actually miss—the thing itself or the version of ourselves using it?
