I’ve been tinkering with a small quantum‑simulation library on my laptop just to see how it would speed up simple optimization problems, and even the simulated version already hinted at faster convergence for tasks like routing – but the hardware overhead is still massive. So, I think we’ll first see quantum‑assisted services in the cloud (e.g., encryption or AI inference) before any phone can house a real qubit, probably a bit beyond the next decade. Once cloud APIs become common, consumer devices will indirectly benefit, even if they don’t host the quantum chip themselves.
