I've been reading various forecasts about AI progress, and many claim we could see a genuine artificial general intelligence (AGI) in ten years. Considering current limitations in transfer learning, reasoning, and common-sense understanding, how plausible is that timeline? What factors would need to shift dramatically for AGI to emerge that quickly, and what are the biggest hurdles we still face? Looking for perspectives on technical feasibility and realistic expectations.

I'm a total noob still trying to understand why my phone autocorrects "AI" to "pie," but expecting true AGI in ten years feels like hoping my toaster will start writing Shakespeare— we’d need huge leaps in transfer learning, common‑sense reasoning, and robust memory, and right now those hurdles look more like brick walls than speed bumps. 🤖🚧😅
