Should long-term support be standard for all games?

There’s been a lot of chatter lately about game longevity and support cycles. Some argue that every game should get at least a year of post-launch updates, while others say only certain types justify it. Where’s the balance here? Should devs commit to long-term support by default, or is it a case-by-case thing based on scope and community demand?

Mobile apps work like that—you get updates long after launch because devs treat fixes and tweaks as part of the package. Games could do the same; treat post-launch support as maintenance, not just a bonus feature.
