So I saw this interesting (and kinda worrying) headline today: apparently xylitol, that common sugar substitute in gum, peanut butter, and even some drinks, might be linked to higher risks of stroke and heart attack?
I mean, I get why people switch from sugar—less calories, better for teeth—but now I'm kinda paranoid. Does anyone else check labels for this stuff now? Or is this study just another one of those 'new research says...' things we should take with a grain of salt?
Xylitol warning - has anyone cut down on sugar substitutes?
