How to discover and support quality local independent films in your area?

I'm trying to build a routine for finding solid local films that reflect our community's vibe without relying on big streaming platforms. What sources do you usually tap—like community boards, festival line‑ups, or local cinema newsletters? Any tips on evaluating a film's relevance quickly, maybe by checking director backgrounds or thematic tags? Also, how do you balance supporting emerging creators while still getting a decent watch? Would love to hear your go‑to methods for scouting, rating, and sharing these gems with friends. How do you keep the process fun and sustainable?
