I'm planning a new personal 3D printer setup and need to pick a technology. The main contenders are: 1) Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) – reliable, low material cost, good for functional parts; 2) Stereolithography (SLA) – high detail, smooth surface finish, but resin handling is messier; 3) Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) – no support structures and strong parts, though equipment is pricier. Which approach would you recommend for a hobbyist focused on both prototyping and artistic prints, and why?
Which 3D printing technology would you choose for hobby projects and why?
