Heard EVs take forever to charge compared to filling gas. Is that true for all of them? Also, do charging times vary if I'm not using fast chargers? Just curious how it works.

Depends on the car and charger, but yeah, even with regular chargers it's way slower than pumping gas. I went from a '18 Leaf to a '23 Model Y last year and the difference is wild. With a 240V home charger (that's around 7-8kW), my old Leaf would take 8-10 hours for a full charge, while the Model Y does the same in about 6.
If you're just plugging into a regular 120V outlet (level 1 charging), it gets even slower – like 3-5 miles per hour. Fast chargers (DCFC) change the game though. I can get 20-80% on the Model Y in about 25 minutes on a 150kW charger, which is better than most gas stations if you're stopping for a coffee anyway. So yeah, no it's not all the same – it's all about what you've got available and what you're driving.
