I've been playing with TypeScript's strict mode lately and it's been both a sanity-saver and a pain point. Some devs swear by it, others call it unnecessary overhead. How do you approach it? Start with strict mode from day one, or ease into it gradually? The trade-offs between early-bird strictness and flexibility later in a project are real. What's your experience? Any horror stories or success stories?

Honestly, I went from being the guy who ignored strict mode ("it's just extra noise!") to basically screaming at my teammates to turn it on after a particularly brutal refactor. Had a medium-sized project where we started without strict, and by the time we hit production, we had like ten different date formats floating around, some functions took `any` for "simplicity," and `null` checks were a wild west mess. Then we flipped strict mode on mid-project and suddenly every file was throwing errors about missing return types or implicit `any`s. Took a week to clean it all up, but once fixed? Oh man, the safety net was insane. Now I'm that guy who enables strict mode in every new project's `tsconfig.json` before even writing the first line. The upfront cost is real, but so is the future-you thanking present-you when you don’t have to debug a runtime error at 3 AM because someone passed `null` where a number was expected. Start strict, stay strict—your future self will send you a thank-you gift basket.
