As far as learning curve goes, Vue’s docs are cleaner and more beginner friendly. I’ve seen Python-heavy data folks pick it up in a weekend and build small dashboards in days. React’s ecosystem is massive but that means more concepts (JSX, hooks, state management like Redux) to digest upfront—I had to spend extra evenings unbundling create-react-app configurations before I could focus on the actual product.
Performance-wise they’re both fast in real apps, but Vue’s virtual DOM approach with compile-time optimizations gives it a slight edge in cases like large lists or reactive forms where Vue’s reactivity tracking is more granular. For FinTech dashboards with hundreds of real-time price tiles I’ve seen Vue maintain 60 fps under heavy load while React demanded memoization and useMemo hooks everywhere. That said, once you profile both properly, the bottlenecks are usually identical (network calls, API response parsing), so the framework itself rarely becomes the bottleneck.
